The online national eligibility cum entrance test (NEET) undergraduate exam application forms will be available on National Testing Agency (NTA) website from Monday.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Director General NTA, Vineet Joshi, said, “The last date for filling the forms is 31 December. The students willget to know about all necessary instructions on the website for filling theform,” Joshi said.
He said that after scrutinizing the application forms, theadmit cards of the eligible students will be available on NTA website on 27March.
“The students will have to upload a scanned copy of theirrecent passport size photograph as well as post card photo besides a signatureand left hand thumb impression to fill their online NEET form,” Joshi said.
He said the exam will be conducted on 3 May 2020.
Earlier, the NEET exams were conducted by Central Board ofSchool Education (CBSE) but from 2018, the mandate was given to NTA.
“Earlier, there were restrictions on age limit, but the agelimit was scrapped in 2018 on the directions of Supreme Court,” Vineet Joshisaid.
In previous years, it was compulsory for aspirants to haveBiology as core subject at 10+2 level to become eligible for NEET exams.
“But from this year NTA has given relaxation in subjectcombination wherein students who studied Biology as additional subject willalso be eligible to appear in NEET exams,” DG NTA said, adding that studentswho have studied bio chemistry in 10+2 level subject combination are alsoeligible for the competitive exam.
As already reported by Greater Kashmir, the candidates whohave completed their schooling through open and distance mode are also eligibleto appear in NEET exams.
As the NTA will release online forms on its website, thousands of aspirants in Kashmir have appealed the government to restoreinternet which continues to be banned for four months now.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, said, “Wehave set up a kiosk at TRC Srinagar with 30 terminals. Internet facilitationcentres are also available in offices of all Deputy Commissioners. Students canavail the facility in these centres.”
However, students have said that a dozen odd internetterminals in each district cannot cater to thousands of students.
“Each student needs at least two hours to fill up the form.First to go through the guidelines thoroughly, then fill up every entry withprecision and upload scanned copies of photographs, signatures, etc. This can onlybe done in the comfort of our home with the guidance of our parents, not at aninternet kiosk where thousands more students will be vying for their turn at afew computers,” a student rued.
