People’s Conference to hold meeting ahead of PM Modi’s all-party meet

Srinagar, Jun 20: People’s Conference (PC) has called a meeting of its top leadership on Monday to discuss Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s all-party meeting being held in New Delhi, reports said today.

Quoting sources, news agency KNO reported that PC chief Sajad Gani Lone is expected to chair a meeting of the party leadership tomorrow to discuss the latest political developments.

They disclosed that Lone, who is in New Delhi with his family, is expected to reach Srinagar today or tomorrow.

When contacted, PC spokesman Adnan Ashraf Lone confirmed that the party leadership is meeting tomorrow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to chair a meeting with all political parties from Jammu and Kashmir on June 24 as part of the Centre’s initiatives to bolster political processes, including holding assembly elections, in the union territory.

The meeting — the first such exercise since the Centre announced the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and its bifurcation into union territories in August 2019 — is likely to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other central leaders.
