Srinagar Nov 1: A fact finding panel at the Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has given a clean chit to students at the institute booked for allegedly cheering for Pakistan cricket team in a T20 World Cup match against India, News 18 reported.
The 5-member panel, which had been tasked by Director SKIMS to probe the allegations has concluded that “neither its premises was used nor students of the institute had participated in the celebrations”, the News 18 report said.
The students at SKIMS along with those at GMC Srinagar were booked on Monday October 25 after purported videos showed them ‘cheering’ for Pakistan cricket team in the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match in the UAE the preceding day. Pakistan had won that match by 10 wickets.
“The central hall or the recreation mess in the unmarried hostel as shown in the viral video do not resemble even by a distance the ones at SKIMS premises, ” the SKIMS fact finding committee has argued in its report as per News 18.
The team while analysing the video said that there is no central pillar in the hall of SKIMS hostel as against the one shown in the video, the report said.
“Similarly, the colour of the wall in the hall at SKIMS is green as compared to the white that is seen in the video”.
As per the News 18 report, the enquiry concluded that the appearance of none of the students in the video resembled the ones studying in SKIMS.
“The difference of location in the video with the spot analysis of the hostel made us conclude that no such celebrations had taken place in SKIMS,” it added.
