Squeezing democratic rights fraught with dangerous fallout: NF

Jammu Kashmir National Front (NF) today said that “squeezing” democratic rights of people could have dangerous results.

Alleging that incarcerated chairman of Front Nayeem Ahmad Khan is being deprived of medical aid in Tihar jail, a spokesman of NF, in a statement today, today appealed to the local and international rights organisations to take cognizance of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in this jail under ‘inhuman and unhygienic conditions’.

The spokesman said, “As per law, the prisoners have their particular rights but in India every Kashmiri political prisoner is seen as a criminal. Prolonging incarceration of Nayeem Khan and others in the Tihar jail, New Delhi, is the most undemocratic way to silence the political opponents,”

Expressing serious concern over the falling health of Nayeem Khan, the spokesman said, “He (Khan) has developed several ailments in the jail and is not being provided any sort of medical aid.”

He strongly condemned the killing of Khalid Ahmad Dar of Khudwani Kulgam by forces and use of “indiscriminate” force against unarmed protesters in Larnu, Kokernag, Chadoora and Khudwani, Kulgam.
