Student protests continue in Kashmir against Bandipora minor’s rape

Student protests continued in Kashmir on Tuesday against thealleged rape of a three-year-old girl of Sumbal area of Bandipora district innorth Kashmir last week.

Reports said that massive protests erupted at Women’scollege MA road against the alleged rape incident.

   

An eyewitness said the students came out of their classesand assembled in the campus to stage a protest demonstration.

The protesting students were demanding stern action againstthe accused. The protests remains confined to the campus only.

The student protests also rocked Kashmir University (KU)against the alleged rape of the minor.

Reports said that hundreds of students of differentdepartments under the banner of Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU)assembled inside the campus to register their protest.

The protesting students were chanting slogans against rapeaccused and demanded capital punishment for him.

“Such incidents are completely unacceptable in oursociety. There should be a death sentence for such crimes,” said aprotesting student.

The protesting students also said these issues should not bepoliticised to garner vote bank. “We hope this time justice would be givento the victim immediately,” said a protester.

The students also carried out a peaceful protest march inBoniyar area of Uri in northern Baramulla district.

Police have constituted a special investigation team to probe the case on fast-track basis.
