Students stranded in Rajasthan cry for help

Around 300 Kashmiri students stranded at Rajasthan for past one month are getting edgy as there seems to be no headway in their evacuation to Valley.

They have completed their quarantine period two weeks agoand tested negative for COVID19. Yet no arrangements are being made by theauthorities to get them back to Valley, the students alleged.

   

The students were evacuated from various medical colleges ofIran in the wake of the lockdown announced by the government of India and wereput under quarantine on March 15.

 “After completing ourquarantine period, we were divided in different groups and shifted to otherlocations at Jaisalmer,” said one of the distressed students.

“We are 91 students in one batch and another group comprises52 students. The second batch was supposed to leave a few days ago, but forsome unknown reasons, they were not evacuated,” the student said.

 “We are going throughmental agony. Ramdhan is approaching and temperature here is also increasing.It will be difficult for us to survive here under such conditions,” the studentsaid.

The parents of these stranded students are also becomingapprehensive about safety and health condition of their kin.

“The government hadassured us of every help, but now our children have been forgotten. We allparents suggest for paid airlifting of students from Jaisalmer as analternative,” said a parent.

An official in administration said they were working on thematter and a holistic view will be taken for evacuation of students strandedoutside J&K.
