Awantipora, Aug 13: The Department of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) organised an inter-departmental symposium on Shahadat-i Imam Hussain (RA) today reflecting on the enduring lessons of sacrifice, justice, and truth.
The symposium, moderated by Dr Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh, featured participants from various disciplines across the university. The event was chaired by Prof Abdul Wahid, Registrar IUST, who emphasised the importance of a balanced study of Islamic history.
Prof Ayaz Hassan Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs, shared insights on the spiritual and philosophical aspects of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, while Dr Munejah Khan underscored the interdisciplinary relevance of the study.
Earlier, Dr Showkat Hussain, Head Department of Islamic Studies, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of commemorating Imam Hussain’s (RA) martyrdom. Dr Ali Muhammad presented a vote of thanks. The student speakers were also felicitated.
