Tral shuts on third consecutive day against militant killings

A complete shutdown is being observed for the third consecutive today in Tral township of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killing of three militants during an attack on a CRPF camp.

All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed in these areas while public transport was off the roads.

   

Three militants and five CRPF soldiers were killed in the 36-hour-long gun battle between militants and government forces after the former attacked CRPF training centre in Lethpora area of Awantipora on Monday.

The deceased militants were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baba of Drubgam Pulwama, Fardeen Ahmad Khandey of Nazneenpora Tral while the third one remained unidentified.

An eyewitness said that scores of people including some pro-freedom leaders from different areas visited the slain militant Fardeen Ahmed Khanday’s home at Nazneenpora village of Tral to offer ‘Fateha’ (prayers).
