Two JeM associates arrested in south Kashmir’s Awantipora: Police

Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two militant associates from Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Police along with 42 RR & 130 Bn CRPF arrested two militant associates of proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad from Awantipora area, news agency GNS reported.

   

The duo was involved in providing shelter, support, logistics, as well as in transporting of arms/ammunition of the militants in Awantipora and Tral areas and passing on sensitive information to the militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad, the report quoted a police statement.

The duo was identified as Shezaan Gulzar Beigh from Gadhikhal Chersoo and Waseem-ul-Rehman Sheikh from Midoora Awantipora, added the statement. “Incriminating material including explosive material and ammunition has been recovered from the duo”.

As per the statement, the duo had been in touch with the militant commanders in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) through various social media platforms. “One of the arrested militant associates had also gone to PaK and had met some militant commanders there,” added the statement.

As per the statement, one among the duo had uploaded “lot of false narrative on Facebook Page to influence and misguide the gullible youth towards the path of violence.”

A case under FIR number 07/2021 has been registered against the arrested duo at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law and further investigation has been taken up, added the statement.
