The Sikh community had gathered in a Gurduwara inChatisinghpora village of Shangus Tehsil in Anantnag district of South Kashmirto pay homage to 35 Sikhs who fell to the bullets of gunmen reportedly dressedin army fatigues on the evening of March 20, when then US President BillClinton was on a visit to New Delhi.

“We don’t know who was behind the killings. It has been19 years since the incident took place and no inquiry was initiated into theincident and this has made us apprehensive that the culprits are beingshielded,” said Gyani Singh, member of local Gurduwara Prabhandak Committee.

He said that they fail to understand that if inquiries havebeen ordered in other such incidents why not in this case?

“Our repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Justicecontinues to elude victim families despite passing of 19 years,” said Singh.

Singh blamed the state and central government for hushing upthe case.

Earlier during the remembrance meet, in Gurduwara the Sikhsincluding men and women performed Krithan, Kathan and delivered religiousspeeches.
