Srinagar, Dec 6: Islamic University of Science and Technology organised a workshop on “Waste Management: Strategies, Stories, and Success”.
The event organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Dean of Students emphasised on the importance of proper waste management from public health and ethical standpoints.
Er Zahid Maqbool, from the Mechanical and Hospitals Division threw light on the mechanism of waste management in the city via landfilling and the techniques adopted.
Er Kaiser Wani from Srinagar Municipal Corporation, highlighted the pathways of waste management at source and the techno-economics and policy framework for solid waste management.
Dr Ovais Gulzar, Head Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted IUST’s advanced facilities for efficient waste management. The event was coordinated by Dr Mahvash Afzal.
A panel discussion on e-waste disposal, with Dr. Rumman Bashir Dean SOET IUST, Dr. Kaiser Giri Director DIQA, Dr. Majid Koul as the panelists was also conducted on this occasion.
