Former Delhi chief minister and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit passed away in Delhi on Saturday., The Quint reported.
She was 81.
Quoting Director of Escorts Fortis, Dr Ashok Seth, the report said that Dikshit suffered a cardiac arrest at 3:15 pm, after which she was put on ventilator. She breathed her last at 3:55 pm.
Dikshit had served as the Delhi chief minister from 1998 to 2013. She was succeeded by Arvind Kejriwal in 2013.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express grief over Dikshit’s death. Remembering Dikshit as an “affable personality”, he credited her for the development which took place in Delhi.
