Fire damages green gold at Bathuni

Rajouri, Mar 26:  A blaze in the forest area of Bathuni village near Rajouri caused damage to the green gold.

The flames were brought under control after an hours-long firefighting operation.

The blaze erupted in the forest area of Bathuni village, around 9 km from Rajouri town, in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday and flames engulfed a portion of the forest.

Locals of the area shared information about the blaze with authorities after which teams of the Forest Department and Forest Protection Force rushed to the site and launched a firefighting operation with the help of locals.

Later, a fire tender was also rushed to the site from Rajouri fire station and flames were brought under control after hours-long firefighting efforts.

Assistant Director Forest Protection Force, Rajouri Division, Masood Ahmed said that the flames were brought under control after efforts that lasted for hours.

He said that some portion of the forest in the village has suffered damage and the authorities are trying to ascertain the causes of this blaze.
