Amidst increasing cases of online fraud in the district,Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday asked people to remain aware and vigilantagainst online cheaters.
An advisory issued by SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas said that anumber of cases of online cheating have come to fore in Rajouri district in thelast few months wherein people have been looted in the name of lottery win andother such fake assurances.
He said that police have started investigation in all thecases wherein complaints have been registered “and we will take theinvestigation of all the cases to a logical conclusion”.
The SSP said that more people in the district are becomingthe easy target of the fraudsters due to lack of awareness.
“As such, people in general are advised not to fall prey inthe hands of online cheaters who lure in the name of lottery win or other suchpractices,” the officer said in the advisory.The police officer also advised people not toshare their ATM card number, PIN or OTP with anyone claiming to be a bankofficial.
