Jammu Feb 20: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) today asked National Conference (NC) as to why Abdullahs are silent on the allegations of Devender Singh Rana regarding alliance with BJP.

In a statement Chief Spokesperson DPAP Salman Nizami said that amidst the political turbulence following the revocation of Article 370, the National Conference finds itself under scrutiny for its alleged alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He was referring to the silence by the party regarding NC’s potential alliance with the BJP after the recent statements of Rana and Dr Farooq Abdullah.” As the ambiguity surrounding NC’s political stance deepens, questions arise about its motivations and alliances, especially with the abrupt breakup of the Gupkar alliance and the distancing from the PDP,” Nizami said.

He said it has been said that “our chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad begged for a Rajya Sabha seat.” “We categorically deny this baseless claim. The allocation of Rajya Sabha seats were based on the representation of MLAs, and Ghulam Nabi Azad rightfully received his share as an alliance partner with the support of independent MLAs Hakeem Yaseen, Eng Rashid and others. Infact, Azad gave full six years to Omar Abdullah during our alliance with the National Conference. Initially, a mutual agreement was reached to split the term, with three years allotted to the National Conference and three years to the Congress,” he said.
