Had decided not to ‘Mankad’ batsman in IPL: Chairman Rajeev Shukla

IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla took to Twitter and said that it had been decided in one of the meetings between Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli and Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni that the non-striker will never be run out even if there’s an opportunity for the bowlers.

“If I remember in one of the meetings of captains &match referee where I was also present as chairman it had been decided that ifnon striking batsman steps out bowler as a courtesy will not run him out @IPL@BCCI,” Shukla tweeted.

“Most probably this meeting was in Kolkata on the eve of oneof the editions of IPL where Dhoni and Virat both were present @BCCI @IPL,” hefurther added.

Ashwin was in his final over when he decided to pause beforedelivering the fifth ball, Jos Buttler was looking at the batsman’s end anddragged his bat out of the crease, following which the bowler whipped off thebails. This was then referred to the third umpire who asked the batsman toleave the field.
