Police arrested three drug peddlers at a checkpoint here and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
“Officers at a checkpoint established near Eidgah,arrested three drug peddlers. They have been shifted to Police StationSafakadal where they remain in custody. Contraband substance including 50 grams of charas and 01 gram of heroinhas been seized by the officers. Case FIR No. 106/2019 under relevant sectionsof law has been registered and initiated investigations in the matter,”police spokesperson said in a statement.
“Community members are requested to come forward withany information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons foundindulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actionsagainst drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are makingefforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” itadded.
Meanwhile, police said it raided a gambling site andarrested gamblers at Lal Bazar.
“Officers have seized playing cards and a stake amountof ?2125/- from the gamblers. Case FIR No. 34/2019 under relevant sections oflaw has been registered in Police Lalbazar. Persons found indulging in criminalactivities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to shareinformation regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood to the local policeunit,” the statement said.
