Mandir Bagh residents decry dilapidated link road

Srinagar, Dec 21: The residents of Mandir Bagh area of Gaw Kadal have expressed resentment against failure of authorities to repair link road, starting from Kralkhud Police Station.

As per locals, the road has been in dilapidated condition for over eight months and even after raising issues with concerned authorities, no action has been initiated yet, they said.

The road, as per locals, had been damaged when the men from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) department laid the concrete pipes for drainage purpose. “They left the residents in a high and dry situation by keeping the road disfigured.”

“It is like a curse on the people of this area which is just adjacent to the city centre Lal Chowk. Even the roads in far flung areas are much better,” said a resident.

However, the SMC’s Ward Officer Nazir Gilkar said that he is unaware of the situation. “Nobody approached me till date,” he said even as he also said that he was not sure which department laid the drainage pipes in his concerned ward.

“If i had been informed about it, our department would surely have taken some action, but the issue has never been brought into my notice,” Gilkar said.
