Srinagar, Nov 26: Residents of various areas of Burzahama have expressed concern over the growing population of stray dogs.
A delegation of residents said stray dogs are on the prowl at New Colony, Sheikh Hamzah Colony, Bilal Colony, and Ibrahim Colony localities of Burzahamad posing threat to locals.
The residents said that the continuous threat of stray dogs causes inconvenience to locals. “Amid the presence of stray dogs, we have to accompany our children, elderly and women while they venture out. Many locals had narrow escape several times when they were attacked by stray dogs. There have been many cases of dog bites but authorities haven’t taken any action,” said Adil Ahmed a local.
The locals said the uncovered garbage containers in the area are breeding ground for dogs. They appealed to the SMC authorities to check the dog menace in these areas.
