Tourism minister Tassdauq Mufti, the brother of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, was on Tuesday sworn in as member of the legislative council.
Before the governor’s address to the joint sitting of lawmakers here, Tassaduq took the oath as MLC at a ceremony held in the legislative council lobby.
Chairman of legislative council, Haji Anayat Ali, administered the oath of office to Tassaduq in presence of leader of the House Naeem Akhtar, food and supplies minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali and other senior members.
Earlier on December 22, the governor NN Vohra nominated Tassaduq as member of the upper house on recommendations of the state government.
He was nominated on the seat vacated by Vikramaditya Singh who quit the Peoples Democratic Party as MLC, citing “differences with the party.”
