COVID-19 | 7 die, 498 test positive

Srinagar, June 25: Jammu and Kashmir reported 498 new Covid-19 positive cases while seven persons died due to coronavirus in the last 24-hours.

The number of active positive cases has witnessed a drastic decline as the number of active cases has come down in less than a month from 50,000 to 6000.

As per the details shared by the Health department, currently there are 6157 active cases.

The Health department officials said that the decline in active cases was an encouraging sign as it has reduced burden on the healthcare institutions of J&K.

Of the total active cases, 3777 are in Kashmir division and 2380 in Jammu division.

As far as the fatality rate is concerned, for the last two weeks the number of deaths too has shown a dip.

On Friday, seven fatalities were reported, two from Kashmir division and five from Jammu division.

As per the official details, two died at GMC Doda, one at GMC Jammu, one at DH Kishtwar, one at GMC Anantnag, one at DH Bandipora and one at SMHS Srinagar.

The total number of fatalities reported in J&K so far is 4291.

The number of positive cases detected on Friday was 498 of which 209 positive cases were reported from Jammu division and 289 from Kashmir division, taking the total tally of positive cases to 3,13,974.

Srinagar reported 82 cases, Baramulla 35, Budgam 31, Pulwama 13, Kupwara 44, Anantnag 21, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 16, Kulgam 29, Shopian 3, Jammu 10, Udhampur nine, Rajouri 11, Doda 25, Kathua four, Samba two, Kishtwar 19, Poonch 16, Ramban 17 and Reasi 96.

The number of recoveries outnumbered the positive cases.

On Friday, 871 Covid-19 patients recovered – 334 from Jammu division and 537 from Kashmir.

With this, a total of 3,03,526 people have recovered so far from this virus.

As per the official media bulletin, one new confirmed case of mucormycosis was reported on Friday, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 28 in J&K.
