Director Tourism inaugurates ‘Mission Wushnare’

Srinagar: Director Tourism Dr G N Itoo today inaugurated “Mission Wushnare” of Kashmir Welfare Trust at Bilaliya Educational Institute Lal Bazar here.

On the occasion, winter kits comprising food and woolen items were distributed among 206 families from north Kashmir’s Tangmarg, Pattan, Kreeri, Palhalan, Kandi, Baramulla, and different areas of Srinagar.

“KWT has been at the forefront of extending helping hand to downtrodden families. I appreciate KWT for its contribution towards the society,” Director Tourism said. Renowned Psychiatrist Dr Mushtaq Margoob underscored the importance of reaching out to needy people and role of voluntary groups in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chairman PSAJK GN Var appreciated efforts by KWT to come to the rescue of needy people. Civil society member Dr FA Kaloo appreciated the humanitarian initiatives of KWT. He also urged parents to extend a helping hand to private schools for a better future of their children.Noted educationist Shafqat Jahan highlighted humanitarian and educational initiatives by KWT and Bilaliya Educational Institute.

“These institutes have been working for downtrodden families and providing an educational platform to children,” Jahan said.On the occasion, KWT felicitated many persons who have made mark in their respective fields.

The awardees included social activist Tariq Ahmad Patloo, RTI activist Dr Raja Muzaffar, educationist Shafqat Jahan, journalist Arif Shafi Wani besides Shaista Bano, Zahoor Qari, Chairman TAAI JK chapter, GM Lone, Shukiel Ahmad, Mubashir Wafai, Hanan Makaya, Khalid Nazir Banday, Peerzada Faiyaz Ahmad. Awards were also presented to heads of various NGOs, social and voluntary groups. On the occasion, Chairman KWT Manzoor Wangnoo resolved to work for the betterment of downtrodden families and the restoration of water bodies.
