Driver dies in Banihal accident

Ramban, June 18: A driver of a dumper died after the vehicle he was driving skidded off the road and fell into several hundred feet embankment of Bisleri Nullah at Chambalwass ahead of Banihal town on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway Friday afternoon.

Police said a dumper (tipper) engaged with a construction company of NHAI skidded off the road at Chambalwass and fell into deep embankments of Bislari Nullah, resulting in grievous injuries to the driver of the vehicle.

After receiving information, Police and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved the critically-wounded driver from the mingled cabin of the vehicle and shifted him to Sub District Hospital Banihal where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.

Police identified the deceased driver as Reyaz Ahmed Lohar, 35, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Lohar of Chambalwass Banihal.

Police said after completing postmortem and other legal formalities the body of the deceased driver was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
