Implementation of various CSSs in Kashmir reviewed

Srinagar: Union Commissioner for Agriculture and Horticulture, Dr S K Malhotra today convened a meeting of the Agriculture Department at Lalmandi, here to review the progress made under various centrally sponsored schemes (CSSs) and other flagship programmes under implementation in Kashmir.

During the meeting, the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Muhammad Iqbal apprised the visiting dignitary of various initiatives that are being executed by the Department in Kashmir. He also presented a detailed overview of various CSSs and flagship programmes under implementation here.

   

The Director gave a detailed blueprint of various initiatives and said that the Department has focused on various initiatives including organic vegetable cultivation, mushroom cultivation, the introduction of exotic vegetables, bringing more and more areas under mainstream agriculture, the revival of the saffron sector.

While expressing his views, the Union Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Department and assured every possible support for the progress and development of the agriculture sector in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
