KTMF delegation visits Handwara, expresses grief over fire incident

Srinagar, June 1: Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) today expressed anguish over midnight blaze in Handwara Market that engulfed around 65 shops on Sunday night.

A delegation of KTMF led by Muhammad Yaseen Khan today visited Handwara to express their grief over the losses incurred by the traders.

A statement of KTMF issued here said while most of the shops have no insurance cover the losses incurred by the traders are immense, making it imperative for the administration to step in. Khan said, “It is not just the infrastructure that has been damaged, the merchandise worth lakhs of rupees also got ruined in the unfortunate incident. I stand shoulder to shoulder with the affected traders in their difficult time. I hope and pray for their early revival.”

Handwara Traders Federation President Sofi Aijaz briefed Khan about the damage caused to the traders by blazing fire and urged him to impress upon LG administration to rehabilitate the affected traders on priority. While speaking with the affected traders , Khan expressed his sympathies to the affected and prayed for the early revival of their business. He impressed upon the administration to award due compensation to the affected following early assessment of the losses incurred by them without delay. Khan also urged Divisional administration to allow vendors to reconstruct their shop on priority basis as all the vendors are registered with local municipal committee.
