Srinagar, Feb 26: Peoples Conference Monday officially declared its president, Sajad Gani Lone, as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the north Kashmir’s Lok Sabha segment.
This announcement was made by the PC’s senior General Secretary, Imran Reza Ansari.
“In response to the duty assigned to me by the party to hold discussions with party leaders, and ascertain the best possible way forward in the upcoming parliamentary polls, I have had extensive discussions over the past two weeks. I met all constituency heads and block-level leaders,” Ansari said.
He said that based on his discussion with the party leaders, they had decided to fight and field a candidate from the Baramulla parliamentary seat.
“For the Baramulla parliamentary seat, the leadership and the rank and file of the party has overwhelmingly endorsed the candidature of our party president Lone. It is with great pleasure I formally announce that Lone has acceded to the demand of the party. He will be the candidate of the party from Baramulla parliamentary seat,” Ansari said.
He said that the PC leadership wishes him the best and believes that the fiercest speeches on the floor of the parliament, advocating the just cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be delivered by Lone after a painful wait of seven decades.
“The people of J&K will finally get the chance to roar,” Ansari said.
