Windstorm hits Bandipora

Bandipora, June 13: A 48-year-old person died while at least 30 structures were damaged as gusty winds hit Bandipora district, officials said Sunday.

The speedy winds accompanied by thunderstorm and hail that hit this north Kashmir district Saturday evening critically injured a 48-year-old man when he was hit by parts of a tin-roof blown away by the winds at Gund-Kaiser village.

Identified as Bashir Ahmad Kumar, the man was immediately rushed to District Hospital Bandipora where from he was referred to SKIMS Soura for the grievousness of his injuries, officials said. They said the man, however, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

The gusty winds wreaked havoc in many villages of this north Kashmir district with officials in the administration stating that at least 30 structures including houses and cattle sheds were damaged.
