Over two months on, a water supply scheme in Kalali, Manjakote has been lying non-functional with the concerned department not initiating any repairs.
As per official details, Riyan Wali to Kalali water supplyscheme has four officials of Public Health Engineering department posted on it.It also serves as the main source of water to seven wards of the village. Thescheme was started around 15 years ago.
Reports said, “Due to a confrontation over a link roadconstruction, some people of the village damaged the pipes of the water supplyscheme, leading to severe water crisis in the area.”
The locals claimed to have informed the authorities aboutthe issue several times, but nothing has been done.
The locals urged the district administration to intervene inthe matter and to bring an end to their miseries.
On being contacted, Executive Engineer of Public HealthEngineering department, Sunil Koul, said, “The problem erupted after somepeople wanted the construction of a link road to be shifted. These peopledamaged the pipe line and are not letting the officials of the department torepair it.”
The officer said that an FIR has also been lodged, but thepolice have not resolved the issue yet.
