18 gamblers arrested in Anantnag, Baramulla: Police

Srinagar, June 20: Police arrested 18 gamblers from Anantnag and Baramulla districts and seized Rs 50,070 stake money from their possession.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that in Anantnag a Police party of Police Station Anantnag raided a gambling site at Ashajipora Anantnag following an input about gambling activities and apprehended four gamblers.

   

It said that the officers have seized stake money of Rs 2950 and playing cards from the gamblers.

The statement said that have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

It said that a case vide FIR No 288/2021 under the relevant sections of law had been registered at Police Station Anantnag and investigation had been initiated.

The statement said that in Baramulla, Police parties from Police Station Baramulla and Police Station Pattan “raided two gambling sites at Chakloo Baramulla and Baliharan Mirgund after following inputs about gambling activities and apprehended 14 gamblers.

It said that the officers had seized playing cards and stake money of Rs 47,120 from their possession.

The statement said that have been arrested and shifted to respective Police Stations where they remain in custody.

It said that cases under the relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation had been taken up.
