Srinagar: Reacting to National Conference (NC) Vice President, Omar Abdullah’s statement, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday said no such statements should come that could break the unity of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
“After the abrogation of Article 370, the situation has worsened in Jammu and Kashmir, and in these uncertain times, there is no scope for internal rivalries,” PDP leader Naeem Akhtar told KNS, a local news gathering agency.
“We should not be playing into the hands of those who have disempowered us, humiliated us, and disposed us of every right,” he said.
Akhtar said that PDP had taken an initiative to form PAGD to stand united with all the political parties and be the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that PDP at this time did not have any interest in arguing with any political parties.
“There is no scope for any leader of J&K to do any internal politics. There is no space for arguing with one another. We all should stay united. Otherwise, the future of J&K is doomed. The state has been downgraded to a union territory. This is not the time for internal rivalries but to speak united to save the future of J&K,” Akhtar said. “It was his (Omar Abdullah’s) personal statement and PDP doesn’t hold any grudges and will continue its stand till the rights of people are restored. These absurd statements would not let us down.”
He said that if the NC would put in efforts to restore Article 370 and restore statehood, PDP would always support them.
