BGSBU announces 50% fee reduction for kids of Class IV employees

Srinagar: The authorities at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) have announced a 50 percent waiver in fee for the kids of IV employees of the varsity seeking admissions to pursue their higher studies.

This is the second major decision taken by the Vice Chancellor BGSBU Prof Akbar Masood this year.Earlier this year the University announced a 50 percent relaxation in the admission fee for the students aspiring to pursue various postgraduate, undergraduate, B Tech and other diploma courses offered by the University.

The two back to back announcements are seen as the major decisions taken by the university administration in the history of the varsity since its establishment.

“Keeping in view the economic conditions of our class IV employees we have decided to provide a 50 percent waiver to them in order to enable them to continue their studies,” VC BGSBU, Prof Akbar Masood said.

He said the University has also decided to submit the SRO cases of the kin of the employees and recommend jobs for them from the government.

“We will try to plead their cases and see if the government can provide them any compensatory jobs under SRO 43,” Prof. Masood said.He also said the University administration has also decided to pay an amount of Rs 1000 each per month to the two kids of any University employee who passed away during his in-service period.

“The amount will be provided to the kids till they complete their schooling up to class 12th,” he said. For the past few years, the BGSBU had failed to continue with its legacy of maintaining its academic standards.

In 2020, the University started the admission process soon after the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic, but given the poor response of the students to various courses being offered there, the University did away with the otherwise mandatory entrance examination for many programmes to fill up the regular seats, not to talk of admissions against payment seats.
