Class 8 Term-II exams from Nov 22

Srinagar: The term-II examination for class 8th students of government and private schools has been scheduled in offline mode from November 22 across Kashmir and winter zones of Jammu division. The government has also announced 30 per cent relaxation in syllabus for the students appearing in the exams.

The notification in this regard has been issued by the Director State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) Veena Pandita.

   

The decision has been taken pursuant to the instructions issued by the Principal Secretary School Education Department Bishwajit Kumar Singh.

Notably, a proposal for holding the term- II exam of class 8th students was submitted by the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) a month ago.

In wake of the directions of the administrative department, the SCERT has formulated the action plan for smooth conduct of the exams in Kashmir and winter zones of Jammu division.

“The divisional offices of SCERT will set 20 MCQs (40 marks) for each subject from the prescribed syllabus for Term II examination,” the notification reads.

Out of the total question the students have to attempt 70 percent of the questions of their choice which is equivalent to 28 Marks. “The same shall be raised to 100 percent (40 marks) on proportionate basis,” the document reads.

The concerned District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIETs) will receive the soft copy of the question papers from the concerned divisional offices of SCERT on the day of examination (as per the date sheet).

“The same will be forwarded to the concerned complex heads and heads of the schools confidentially through mail or other safe digital means,” it reads.

The concerned heads of the schools have been asked to get the required number of question papers printed as per the enrollment.

“The duration for the paper shall be one hour and students are required to mark the correct option on the MCQ paper itself,” it reads.

The concerned heads of the schools have been asked to submit the said papers to the concerned complex for evaluation, after the culmination of the examination.

“The concerned complex head shall compile results of all the affiliated schools of class 8th students and submit to the concerned Principal DIETs,” it reads.

As per the modus operandi adopted by the department, the Principal DIETs will compile and counter sign the result and compile the data base of the students.

“The concerned Principal DIET will prepare the result gazette and issue achievement cards to the students. Expenditure on this account shall be borne out of the appropriate object heads or savings in case of government schools,” it reads.

The heads of the schools and the DIETs have been directed to ensure that all the necessary precautions COVID-19 SOPs as notified by the government are strictly followed.

“The sanctity of examination will be maintained at all the levels and any laxity in this regard shall be viewed seriously and dealt with as per the norms,” the notification reads.
