DGP reviews security arrangements in Poonch

Jammu, Dec 10: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Friday visited Poonch and reviewed internal and border security arrangements in the district.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that chairing a joint officers meetings, Singh said, “Pakistan is attempting to involve our youth in the drug menace as they did in Punjab after their other nefarious designs failed.”

   

He said that the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch had been witnessing infiltration bids sponsored by Pakistan and that due to synergy and close liaison between the J&K Police, Army, and other security forces many of such acts were successfully thwarted on the border and in the hinterland.

Singh emphasised the strengthening of checkpoints on Mughal Road and National Highway to keep a check on the transportation of drugs, weapons, and other criminal activities.

He urged the officers to strengthen the intelligence grid and ensure input sharing for rapid action by the forces.

The DGP stressed stepping up operations to “check the movement of criminals and terrorists and other suspicious elements”.
