Bandipora: Amid the continuous targeted killings in Kashmir, the security agencies in north Kashmir, officials say are monitoring the situation very carefully.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the Raja Saleem Anwar memorial tournament, the final match of which was played on Thursday in SK Stadium Bandipora, DIG North Kashmir, Uday Bhaskar Billa said, “the security agencies were on their toes and the situation is being monitored very carefully”.
Bhaskar said that the security agencies were expecting no untoward incident in the area and that there was utmost peace in the region. Moreover, the DIG said that foolproof security arrangements are in place to uphold the situation.
Bhaskar said, “There is utmost peace in the region. At the same time, we are on our toes to guard the entire borders and we are trying to establish peace as much as possible”.
On the infiltration attempts, the officer said, “We are continuously monitoring the movement of the militants”.
The police officer said that there were telltale numbers on the presence of the number of militants in north Kashmir and there was no confirmed number as of now.
The DIG said that late Raja was killed in an encounter in 2000 in Kupwara and that the police remembered him for the last 20 years by organising cricket tournaments on his name annually. He said such tournaments were being organised everywhere to remember the police martyrs. The match was won by Rising Stars defeating the Hashmee cricket club by five wickets.
